ESL - Too Much Information
Too Much Information
Use modifiers like "too", "so", and "such" correctly. We use these modifiers when something is excessive.
"Too" has a negative meaning and is used before adjectives.
For example: My interest rate is too high.
Too + adjective can be followed by an infinitive: I am too tired to get up.
"So" is also used before adjectives.
For example: The weather is so nice today.
We can use "so" with good or negative adjectives.
For example: It's so expensive. -or- I am so tired.
So+ adjective can be followed by a "that" phrase: I am so tired that I can't get up.
We use "such" before nouns.
For example: This credit card is charging me such a high interest rate.
We have such good weather in Miami in February.
EXCEPT when we are using much, many, few, or little. Than we use "so" or "too".
There are so many students here on Mondays, and so few students on Fridays.
